Parrish wanted to convey in this work of an Eastern Timber Wolf named Akila, an appreciation for this beautiful animal and in doing so he brings the viewer up close and personal. Coming Home is a one on one experience with one of the worlds most beautiful and often misunderstood animals. This work along with the wolf piece entitled The Sentinel were reproduced and sold at auction to raise money for public broadcasting. Both editions sold out with each piece commanding far more than their asking price, often seven to eight times their asking price.
